Default 1999 Dodge Dakota Alternator Wire Gauge

As the title says, what is the wire gauge for the alternator? I did a search and I could not find any information toward what the gauge was for the alternator. everything is stock, nothing special.

My truck has v6 239 in it and the wire going to the alternator doesn't have any insulation on it any more due to age and is corroding because of Ontario road salt.

If anyone happens to know, please tell, if not I am going to hit up some garages in town to see if anyone can tell me.

factory for the alternator is #6 copper wire with a 5/16 stud on back of the alternator, running to the PDC. Upgrading to 4 gauge is advisable since 6 is uncommon. Do not downgrade to 8 gauge.
