Default Battery tray pressure switch???

In working out my emission issues I found what looks like some kind of pressure switch mount in the middle of the battery tray. can anyone tell me what it is and why it's there???

just a temperature switch. it shuts off the alternator if the battery gets too hot. Not really sur eit actually would ever work, but it exists. i zip-tied mine under the PDC when i moved the battery to the bed.
