OIL PAN GASKET REPLACEMENT 2.5l ENGINE
I have an oil leak which I am fairly sure is coming from my oil pan gasket..I have the 2.5L engine.. What's involved in putting a new gasket on?? Besides removing all the bolts on the pan. Can the pan be removed w/o taking anything else off or is there more to it???
holy CRAP..
OIL PAN
REMOVAL
(1) Disconnect negative cable from battery.
(2) Raise the vehicle.
(3) Remove the oil pan drain plug and drain the
engine oil.
(4) Disconnect the exhaust pipe at the engine
exhaust manifold.
(5) Disconnect the exhaust hanger at the catalytic
converter and lower the pipe.
(6) Remove the engine starter motor.
(7) Remove the flywheel/torque converter housing
access cover.
(8) Position a jack stand directly under the engine
vibration damper.
(9) Place a piece of wood (2 x 2) between the jack
stand and the engine vibration damper.
(10) Remove the engine mount through bolts.
(11) Using the jack stand, raise the engine until
adequate clearance is obtained to remove the oil pan.
(12) If equipped, disconnect the transmission
cooler lines and oxygen sensor harness from oil pan
mounting studs.
(13) Remove the oil pan bolts and studs. Carefully
remove the oil pan and gasket.
I think I'll live with the leak..it only drips a bit now where is that oil pan leak tray

Never a drop on the driveway sure its oily but never a drop.
Your leak may be the harmonic balancer seal if the harmonic balancer is old replace it see what happens.

Yes the seal is usually ok but a grove tends to wear in the Harmonic balancer and oil starts to leak a little. The valve cover will tend to leak also it travels down the block to the pan.
Both easy to replace try valve cover first clean the engine see if more oil shows up.
