dodge dakota, shuts down only going into drive

completly baffeled,,, have a 2002 dakota, 4.7l, i have been fighting with this problem for about 2 weeks,, when i put my truck in drive it shuts down,, neutral, park reverse all good motor keeps on running,, so far i have replaced the selenoid pack,, torque convertor,, and nothing is working,, any suggestions what to look for,, truly grateful for any insight,,,

Shuts down completely like the ignition is being killed or stalls? I'm guessing the first bit and can only offer that it's something linkage related since it works okay going into reverse. Idling in neutral isn't really a test. I'm guessing that you have been attempting various things but I honestly have nothing specific to help you with. Maybe something linkage related is rubbing on an ignition wire only when going into drive? Sounds things out and a dead engine is the result.
