On my 02 dakota I'm noticing the interior light stays on a lot as head lights are turned on unless I turn dimmer down to almost no light on dash .
Is there a short? Seems common for dakotas.
What do I nred to look at?
Not sure fog lights work either.

Check the door switches for your interior lights. As far as not being sure if your fog lights work, turn them on the look to see if they are actually on, or have a friend stand in front of the truck and look for you.
