Default Brake line fittings

I was told by the person doing the PA inspection of my 98 Dakota that the brass fittings (unions and Ts) on the brake lines I did aren't legal and have to be replaced with steel fittings. The lines I used are steel but I can't find the steel fittings I would need to use to replace the brass ones. Has anyone heard of the brass being illegal?

Depends on the inspection laws. Every place has different standards.

have somebody else inspect it. specifically, a non-english speaking place if you can.

Most unions/T's are brass, not many are steel. I think they just have their head up their ***.

You can also get some masking tape and flat gray paint and see if that will fool the people.

I looked up the law. Brass fittings are fine for flared or inverted flared connections. Compression type fittings are not permitted for any road vehicle.

I looked for a couple days and couldn't find it. Where was it? I'd love to be able to show it to the guy who's failing my inspection.

I couldn't find a direct cite, only several references.

You might ask the inspector to provide documentation.
