Does anyone know why the wiring and resistor burns up for the heater blower motor in 2001dakota R/T ? I have a 5.9 in it. Had it for 17 years this coming November.

Well, if that's what's happening it means the current in the motor is too high. One Possible cause could be excessive drag on the motor such as a bad bearing. A bad connection current goes high as well but that would be at the connection point not so much the wiring and resistor. I don't know why the fuse wouldn't blow unless it's not the right fuse?
Just went through this on my 03. Replaced resistor, it lasted 3 weeks, replaced resistor and spliced in a new plug, lasted 3 weeks. Replaced motor and resistor again but new plug was melted a bit, that lasted two weeks. I cleaned plug and added a piece of flattened metal to the bad socket on new plug about three weeks ago. So far so good, AC weather coming, we'll see
I've had the same problem for years. After much research I read that the sockets are not tight enough on the plugs. This time the plug was bypassed and the wires soldered. So far it's holding!

sometimes the most simple and direct solutions are the smartest solutions if you understand the system involved.
