I have a 2003 Dakota, 4.7, all wheel drive. I've noticed that when my oil is full, I have leaks as there are oil spots all over my tailgate. Once my oil level drops to the bottom of the "Safe Zone" on the dipstick, the oil leak goes away. I can't find any obvious places where it is leaking from. Any suggestions?

 

Check the tailpipe,see if oil flim is there.That's where the splatter of oil on the tailgate could be explained. Stay in the safe zone on the dip stick.It might be over filled.Just a thought................
