Thanks for the help!
Didn't post much but lurked a lot and searched a lot while we replaced the 4.7l engine in a 2001 Dak with 274k. Put in a used engine that had been rebuilt a few years ago but ended up having to pull the heads and install new HG and have them shaved and a valve job while they were out.
Thanks to the folks who did answer the few questions we posted and for all the great posts that we found searching that showed us just what we needed to do.
We also did new brakes, all new fluids and some other odds and ends but it passed emissions last weekend and now runs great with no squawks. Been a fun project with my son and I look forward to him going out of town several times this summer so I can drive it more! Our first time to replace an engine and partially rebuild one. Ready for another one now. Might rebuild the old one just because I think we would now.
