i just installed my hurst competition plus shifter in my 99 dakota sport regular cab short box v8. my problem is that it hits the dash in 1st 3rd and 5th snometimes it pops out of gear and you really have to slam it to get it in gear... is there some kind of adjustment? what have some of you guys experienced with this shifter?

There is adjustment on any type of shifter. As I recall there is an alignment hole inside the sfifter, the part that bolts to the trans. A rode is placed thru it and the shifter tabs. I wouls imagine you can find info on line or at speed shop.

 

Well, I can't help you with that but I have some questions:

Where did you bought the 5 Speed HURST shifter?

Are you comfortable with it? Or do you still have problems with it?
Does it reduce the mileage on a 5.2 V8? Any effects to the top speed?

The shifter won't affect your mileage or your top speed. It's just supposed to make the shifts shorter.
