Default 2004 Dodge Dakota 4dr 4x4 4.7L OD hard downshifting/jerking at about 85km/hr

HI guys, I have this problem with hard downshifting at 85-90km/hr when I back off on the throttle when getting to highway speeds. It jerks super hard like I've slammed on my brakes and chirps the tires. It's scary. When I drive in with OD off there is no downshift at 90 when backing off the throttle... So is it a transmission thing or a sensor thing? Only happens when backing off the throttle at the same speed... Could it be the TPS?

I should almost mention sometimes when I shift it into D from reverse it shifts really hard....

230,000 kms on her.

Thanks in advance

You don't mention if you have a MONEY light, but you might want to view the you tube video I listed below.
Not sure it will help.

Google in your browser:
South Main Auto Repair , it'll get you to YOU TUBE

Then search:
Dodge Dakota Harsh Shifting

No engine light now as I cleared the codes but I did get the tcm code when it happened three times on one trip. It hasn't come back as I've been driving it in tow mode. I'll take a look at the link when I get home. Thanks for posting

You will most likely have to find someone with a REAL PROFESSIONAL scanner to figure it out. You don't want to start throwing parts at it.
