Default Tranny issues

I have a 1998 Dodge Ram with a 360 engine. All is stock and the tranny was rebuilt 25,000 miles ago. Even before it was rebuilt I had observed a strange increase in rpm at different times. The rpm changes still are happening even after the rebuild and seem to be getting more frequent. I have taken it back to the tranny shop and they say they can not get it to act up when they drive it
I have also just had a transfusion done with no change in the tranny behavior.
This is what's happening: When at a cruising speed(55-75), whether the OD is on or off, with a slight or no load, on level roadway, completely wamed up, the tachometer will jump 150 rpm for no apparent reason and then return right away. This happens more frequent when the cruise cotnrol is on but not just when the cruise is on. If the engine is shut off and re-started the problem goes away for several minutes but does return. There was no strange shiftng for days after I replaced the battery which had gotten weak. Could I be looking at a bad electronic shift control? Or what? Has anyone had a similiar experience? Any help would be appreciated.
