Default Center Console Fit

I have a 2002 Dakota Quad Cab. It has an 40/20/40 front seat with a flip up center console to create a third seat in the front. I also have a little tray console on the floor that has a couple of compartments and a pair of drink holders. I want to remove the "20" part of the front seat and install a center console...a couple of questions:

Will a center console from a Durango fit?
Any special considerations I will need to know about for mounting purposes?

Thanks in Advance

The durango console is a direct swap. You have to take the entire bench assembly out (or lay it back), unbolt the center seat, cut the brackets for the center seat, remove the front drink holder, install the durango console, put the 2 bucket seats back in separately,

that is the console I am looking for, I don't suppose you have the part number of it or the details of the vehicle it came out of!

That console is available in Dakotas from model year 2001 to 2004. I have seen images of it being used in later year Dakotas up to 2008, but I haven't seen one in person.

in the Durangos I think they made the switch in the same year. 2001 would have it. They went to the newer body style on the Durangos in 2004, so a 2001-2003 would definitely have it, but once again, I think they used the same consoles in the 2004 to 2008 Durangos as well. I am not 100% on that though.

I don't have the part numbers for this part, there are several variations of it for heated seats and also for the five speed transmission. (Almost impossible to find)

Check Ebay if you can't find one in a local yard.

Completely different, 2003 is the last year of that console.

I thought so too, but here is an '06 dak with the same console

06:

It looks like the Durangos made the switch to this style in 04

06 Durango:

What I would like to know is if the '08 consoles will work with the 2nd gen daks.. I haven't been able to find a cheap one in the U-pick yards here to test.

09: Dakota
