I'm looking into this 2000 Dodge Dakota. It's a regular cab sport version 3.9L V6. 2WD....It has 56,000 miles and it's $3700.
What's good and bad about this truck? I have a business where I ship a lot of large packages. I'm just looking for a small/mid size pick up to haul packages and other light items that won't fit in my car. My car would be better in the snow and I'm not looking to haul a lot of heavy duty stuff. I test drove it and it feels and sounds good to me.
The price and mileage interests me. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.
With only 56,000 miles that's a really good price, and the truck seems to be in great condition overall. I would say the truck would fit exactly what you need it for and should be of service for a long time with regular maintenance. I'd likely jump on it. Keep in mind being an old magnum engine, it's more torque on the low end, and a bit of a gas hog. I have a 98 RC sport with the 3.9L Magnum, I average 50/50 highway/city with a bit of rough driving (it's such a fun truck) and get between 17.6~19.5 MPG. Everything I've read they seem to last forever as well.
EDIT: The gas averages I listed are with some timing problems, extremely stretched chain and bad crank sensor. I've gotta run it a bit more since I'ved fixed these two problems to see where it actually sits.
