Default Radio shutting down

I have a 1999 Dakota 4WD with 5.2 engine and 5-speed manual. It has about 56K miles. I have a problem with the radio going dead when I slow down. After it does, it may come back up and run for a while or it will continuously turn on and off. I have replaced the radio twice to no avail so it pretty much has to be something in the electrical system. I purchased the truck in 2003. I know the alternator has not been replaced since I've had the truck. I recently had to replace the battery but that did not eliminate the problem. Where should I look?

Start with the power wiring going to the radio. Also check to make sure the fuse is seated and making good contact.
