Not a simple blinker problem
02 Dakota v8 4x4
Ok my issues is my passnager blinker is not working. When I turn the blinker on, it acts as if the bulb is out. neither bulb worked, but I've replaced one bulb, and the other socket was damaged and corroded. I've replaced that, but still both bulbs won't blink in the front, and the rear blinks fast.
I'm not the most mechanically inclined. I'm trying to learn as I go so taking it in is the last thing I want to do. So this is my last stop before taking it in. I live in NC and they require a safety inspection to renew tags. I got time but I rather fix it now.

Get a multimeter and check to ensure it's getting the proper voltage. The signal wire might be broken if the running filament comes on, but the blinker doesn't. I don't remember the wire colors are offhand, but it might be black, red, green (maybe purple). If so, put the black probe to the black wire terminal (ground) and the red probe to the red first (with lights on) it should connect the circuit, and show 12 volts. When you touch the red probe to the other wire, it shouldn't show voltage. Turn the blinker on, and the other wire (touching red probe to it) should pulse 12 volts (or around that). Maybe someone can chime in with the proper wire colors (I don't feel like pulling my headlight to check
). If it gets voltage, but it's low, it might be a bad ground.
