Engine cuts out at 60-65 mph
I have 1999 Dakota Sport, 4x4, 360 (I believe). This truck has been a good truck (204,xxx miles), but about a year ago my issues started showing up. Small at first. The "check gauges" light would come on. It would normally happen as I decelerated to make a right hand turn, oddly enough. At the same time the oil pressure gauge would drop to zero. At first it didn't happen very often. Then it gradually became more frequent to the point where I could be driving down the highway and it would happen. Usually it would be for only a few seconds before everything was back to normal.
Now it has developed a new issue. It can be running perfect until I hit a particular speed, then the engine cuts out momentarily and the "check engine" light comes on momentarily as well. (That certain speed had been around 66 mph and has dropped to about 59 mph). After it cuts out it always starts back up on it's own and we're good till it hits that speed again. Ironically, the check gauges light and drop in oil pressure don't seem to happen while it's doing this.
This latest problem is pretty aggravating. I don't know if the 2 issues are related or not. Do I have a bad ECM? Bad connection somewhere? Your input would be greatly appreciated.
