Default Pulling motor.

I cant seem to get my motor and tranny seperate. All bolts are undone. Evan the flywheel bolts. ( made the mistake before of forgetting about those bolts)
I have tryed just about every thing. Big crow bar. Raising the motor and letting it down fast. It just won't come apart.
Am I forgetting something again. Is it commen for them to be hard to separate?

I did have a bolt that broke off but I drilled it part way out. As deep as the motor housing. Didn't want to drill into the tranny housing.
do I just need to pry harder? I am just not understanding. Never had this much issues before.

Default Pulling motor separating tranny

Its a 97 dakota. 5.2lt V8. Mag. With I believe a 44re tranny.
putting a motor from a 93 5.2lt v8 mag motor into the 97.
blew the motor on the 97.
93 motor has low miles on it. Why I'm putting that into the 97.

Is it 4x4? The 4x4 models have some extra brackets whose sole job is to make everything a pain in the butt.

With all 4 converter bolts out and all 7 transmission bolts out (1 on top, 2 on each side from trans to engine, 1 on each side from engine to trans) the transmission should practically fall out of the truck. Remove the motor mount bolts and the engine will too.

Default Pulling motor

Thanks for the input. I just had to get a crow bar in there and force it. A lot more then i thought I should. Put it in a good place and hit it with a mini sledgehammer a few times. Dented the oil pan but that's ok. There is already holes on both sides of the pan and the block. When the motor decided to go it Went. Had a rod knocking for about 6 months now. I should of never changed the oil. I think the thick/sludge oil was the only thing keepen it running. Changed the oil. Less then a week went by before it blew.
started it to get it up on my tow dolly. Sounded like it was full of rocks.

Yea it should not have been welded on there like that, but rust can do funny things. I had all kinds of hell with the pilot on my aftermarket converter, had to take a sanding sleeve to the back of my crank to get the converter to seat.

Also, make sure to take note on the changes from 93 to 97. Not many, but there are some. EGR and water bridge on the front come to mind.
