Default P1762 Expert help? elecrical or no?

99 dakota club cab 4x4 Auto (44re) 180k - mid year POS

Got the dreaded locked in park, dropped valve body and installed bullet. Ran great 1st 2 trips now gets code. Dropped pan again and cleaned out solenoid/transducer - was not as bad as anticipated. Coil measured good so reinstalled, same. I am thinking electrical, not mech/hydro, here's why:

1 the shakiest is my scanner is an old OTC4000 enhanced with upgrades that 'should' cover that year. My datastream values read zero's on the Gov pressures, and shift indicator is off. I found that it didn't always work as advertised tho.

2 if I clear the code, start it, and shift to drive fast it runs great until I put in back in park. If I wait 2 secs the code comes back and into limp mode.

Ok, so what I didn't mention was when I dropped the VB the 1st time, it was hot that day(AZ) I went on a beer run and got in an accident on the way back. So the VB sat for 2 mos before I could reinstall it. I blew it with air out the best I could but I wish I could have flushed it out better.

It is an old AZ car so I will be checking the wiring more. I just did a quick check on the spots I could see and the insulation is coming off on spots. Guess I will be taking a closer look at the wiring in the morning.

Any suggestions?

Verdict still out.

1st shop said it flat out needed a rebuild

2nd actually hooked up a scanner and tested it, they thought electrical also. I had them check the wiring to the 8 pin plug on drivers side and sure enough there were bare wires hiding underneath the wire loom. They are replacing the wiring along with the 3 pin Park/neutral switch wiring which also had bare wires but I no issues with that. The Arizona heat over the years broke down the insulation on the wires where there was a bend. I will get the final verdict tomorrow.

$435 replaced 8 pin plug wiring, fixed Park/Neutral wiring(can't find replacement), replaced Gov Press Solenoid & senser(P1757 came back on day before I took it to a shop, they said it was shorted out from bad wiring), gasket, fluid. I am happy, no rebuild needed, Gov solenoid/sensor die all the time. 3rd Generation owned shop in Phoenix.
