Truck wont drive until it shifts to second gear
I have a 1998 Dodge Dakota, 3.9L V6 SLT with an automatic transmission. I have had several problems with it shifting very funky, just recently it wont take off in first, and then shifts to second very hard. At first everything I've been reccomended was to clean/replace the IAC Valve, so I did just that, but my truck still manages to have the same symptoms, and will stall when i put it into reverse, sit at idle in drive, or will sputter down to low RPMS or even stall when i slow down. I was just suggested that it might be the Torque Converter going out. any help and/or suggestions would be much appreciated

Diagnostics and testing procedures for the RE transmissions start on page 1,784, this is the full 2001 Dodge Ram shop manual.
