2004 dakota first time owner help
Looking at purchasing a 04 dakota 4wd pretty good shape minus a few rust spots with 125000 miles. Supposively has new transmission but no proof. Is there anyway to tell? Also few other issues. Needs wheel bearing, blower motor resistor and exhaust leak when cold but goes away when warmed up - any idea what the cause of this could me? Do these seem like minor inexpensive repairs? Asking $3000. Also headliner is sagging but is pinned up, is there a more permanent solution for this? Where to get replacement? Also center console is cracked - where can I get a stock replacement in taupe?
Anyone that installs a new transmission would likely save the receipt and proudly present it at the time of a sale.
As for the dash you might need to replace the whole dash. I'm not sure exactly which piece is broken but it's a difficult job. The headliner I would just get another one out of the junkyard. People cover them but I don't think it's worth all that work and expense they're pretty cheap at the U-Pull-It. I broke the back window with a hammer to get mine out in the junkyard. On my quad cab you really have to take out all the seats to get it installed..
The things you've mentioned are labor intensive, so I'd really negotiate that price considerably.

Headliner fell because EVAP sweat runs into that cab below the carpet and creates mostiure in the truck and pulls it down. A new headliner will suffer the same fate eventually, unless the HVAC box drain has been sealed from leaking into the cab, it's a design flaw.
Wheel bearing is super easy.

Usually fails like most cars, due to the quality of the glue and foam that were being used at the time of manufacturing. Some crumble from the inside and fail, some never do. Sometimes owner habits cause failure too. Example...tying or strapping stuff to the roof with the ties passing through the cabin agitates the headliner and exposes the edges to wind.
