Cool

Well crap the AIRTEX/WELLS brake light switch had installation problems it would lock in but not release the plunger so my brake lights were still stuck on. Removed it messed with it many times reinstalled it many times finally got it working.

But I don't trust it so I ordered an oem mopar switch as a backup.

What a PITA

So a 98 Dakota switch

A 99 and up Dakota brake light switch

Yeah, sorry I missed that. Here I was thinking I was being all helpful. It looks to be the same issue with the same source though. The '98 design appears as though it just pushes into a square whole. To get it out it looks as though you would have to push in all the tabs and remove.

Incidentally I jostled mine out of the connector running lines for a new stereo in the same area. I went to Rock Auto to get another OEM one and they only had 4 left. It's getting harder and harder to find many of the Mopar items for this truck.
