Default PCM Question

I just bought a '98 dakota sport and have been looking aournd for a few days for a PCM programmer. I noticed about the only things out there are like the hyper-junk programmers, very basic. Why hasn't anyone come out with software to edit the PCM with a laptop??

I have a '94 camaro and have LT1 Edit software. It allows me to connect my laptop to my PCM via a cable and edit areas for tuning, ie. engine rev limiter, tranny shift points, A/F ratios, spark advancement, gear / tire changes, ect.

As moding these trucks is becomming more popular, I just can't imagine software that allows you to change the pcm for tuning hasn't been developed yet. I know there is much more potential for my 318, just no way to tap into it.

Well, I just found this site: http://www.horsepowerfreaks.com/pric...ce/Electronics
They have something like what I am looking for, but wow, that's alot more than I wanted to spend. My LT1 Edit software was only like $250.

Anyone have any information to add??
