Default 2004 Dakota mud flaps / splash guards?

Hi folks,

Not a Dakota owner, but my (overly-spoiled) younger brother is the proud new owner of a 2004 Quad Cab 2x4 V8. I'd like to get him some mud flaps for Christmas, ideally the Yosemite Sam "Back Off" ones that our grandfather had for decades.

But will I run into problems trying to install aftermarket flaps for the rear wheels? Figured I'd ask before I bought.

Any other suggestions for interesting Dakota add-ons as gifts? Anything under a coupla hundred.

Thanks much in advance!

Y

I had those Yosemite Sam mudflaps installed on my 87 Jeep Comanche. I fabricated a brass bar (worked at a boatyard) that went straight across the back of the wheel well so the flap could hang down straight.

Hm. For someone who can barely fabricate a pancake from Bisquick and water, that seems a mite difficult. So would the Yosemite Sam-type flaps require some sort of modification, for sure, to hang correctly on an '04 Dakota?

Thanks again.
