Default Wheel Spindle

Looking to see if a 00-02 Durango front spindle/knuckle will fit on my 02 Dakota 2wrd

I know for 03/04, dakota and durango are different. Not sure about 02.

Pick an auto parts website, pretend you're buying one for each vehicle, and see if the part numbers match.

00-02 Durango spindles interchange with Dakota spindles and only 2WD interchanges with 2WD and 4WD with 4WD. My understanding is that there was a spindle design change in 2003 due to the excessive disc brake pad wear on the spindles. 03-04 Dakota spindles interchange with 03 Durango only. 03 Durango brakes are heavier duty than 03-04 Dakota brakes.

The disc pads ears would wear on the old style caliper slides, eventually creating a groove and sticking. The spindle may have been redesigned along with the newer caliper though.
