Default 98 steering knuckle- will 2000 fit?

My sons 1998 Dakota 2wd Front Right Steering knuckle needs to be replaced, got one out of a junkyard from a 2000 Dakota.
Got it home and the caliper is different, larger brake pads
This is the only one we can find. I think the 2000 knuckle is almost the same except for where the caliper is mounted, Would it be possible to install the 2000 knuckle with the 2000 caliper on a 1998 Dakota?
Would the large size caliper/pads be an issue on one side?

He drove the truck with a bad front bearing to the point it completely failed, the hub pretty much fall off and the inner part of the bearing is fused to the knuckle so the knuckle has to be replaced.

I wouldn't do it. Unequal braking could give it a really bad pull to one side.

I hate the interchange manuals for this.

97, 98, 99 use a tiny single piston caliper with a small tie-rod end
00, 01, 02 use a larger single piston caliper with a large tie-rod end
03, 04 use a HUGE 2-piston caliper. with a large tie-rod end
