Exclamation 5.5 quarts too much?

I recently did an oil change in my 1999 Dodge dakota. its the 5.2 magnum and it calls for 5 quarts, it wasn't reading on the dipstick so I added a half quart and now it says i've overfilled it is that going to hurt anything or do I need to empty a bit out now?

ive never overfilled so if its a dumb question i apologize lol

Its a bad picture and i can take a better one in the morning but thats what were looking at after the work today.

I wouldn't worry much about it at all.

It'd be real easy to let a little out. Why not?
But if not, it would likely be fine.

You are fine. It would take a lot of extra oil to reach the crank, which is where you'd have an issue.
