TPS and MAP sensor check light!
ok i know rag away, but i let my buddy convince me to plug his jet chip for his 6cyl jeep cherokee into the port on the computer of my 2000 R/T. bad idea i know! Now the truck is throwing the map and tps codes and it idles higher and i dont think its quite as fast as it was before. The stealership is saying that i need to have the parameters reset on my computer for 75 bucks and maybe that will work. if id doesnt work, im out 75 bucks and i still have to replace the sensors. any suggestions?
I assume you took the jet chip out right away and put everything back as it should be. My only suggestion is disconnect the battery for 5 minutes and then reconnect, this will reset all trouble codes and stock settings. Now fire it up and let it idle, if there's still a problem you're off to the dealer I guess.
Let us know how it turns out.

Aren't there any other mechanics in your town aside for the Dealership? ... although I guess a run-of-the-mill mechanic wouldn't have a diognostics-computer-machine-thingy-ma-jig either?
Yeah, try the battery

thanks for the suggestion but i was way ahead of that one. when i reset the ecu and start back up it runs like crap and i have to stay on the gas slightly for 30 seconds or so, then it goes back to the trouble codes and idling slightly high and irregular. U can get the codes from my truck with the on off trick. does the stealership have a special machine that reads dodge computers that other shops dont have? i know that honda does.
Hey
igot a 99 4x4 5.2 i found out the hard way that 99 and newer vehicles have to have ecu reset with a scan tool so you either buy one from Jegs or Summit or take it to the dealer
