Default 2003 dakota shifter cable problems.

So today I pull into my driveway and my truck won't shift into park, got it to shift into first but not the other direction.. okay so my shifter cable is bad, ( I know this bcuz I can see it's all corroded and rusted out under the hood). So I call around to find out that only dealerships sell the part.. I needed it today so I can work tomorrow. I called the dealership to find out they didn't have one but a dealer an hour away does. So I call them to confirm, after taking down all my vehicle info including my vin, they say yes we have one in stock, ok sweet! Go and get it 171$ after tax. Kinda outrageous but at least I'll be able to go to work and make the money back right? Wrong! They gave me a cable for a ram 1500! The transmission end that clips into the bracket is too big to go threw the bracket so now I don't have enough line to get it into park, I can make reverse-1st work but it won't go back into park without me getting under the truck and doing it manually. I was wondering instead of going threw all the bull of returning and then trying to find the right cable, can I just buy a ram 1500 bracket and switch it out with my dodge, or would the bolt pattern be different?
