Default Truck Sits Too Low

Good afternoon all,

I have a 1999 Dakota my dad bought in 01 i believe, black extended cab with 6.5 bed, 3.9 automatic SLT with 15's years ago i was a service writer at a dodge dealership and had all the history on the truck as well as all of the factory options, the truck is very nicely equipped, drives great, and only has 85k miles. My son and I are in the process of making this his first truck, everything is right about it except it sits too low. Like i have to flip a 3" drop hitch to hook up to my 5x8 trailer with 13" tires, truck came with 215's factory, i have sourced a set of the 16" wheels for it and was going to put 245/70r16's on it, just wanting to make sure they'll fit my sister had one as I recall with 255's on it stock and another with 31's on it stock the 255's were 2wd. I have looked all over this truck it doesn't seem to have any aftermarket lowering kit on it. I also remember some base new ones sat very low, did they all have the same suspension or was it different for different packages, do you think the 245's will fit?

Thanks

I have 265/60/16 on mine. 245/70 should fit too.

The 215/75/15 IIRC was the true base model tire size. Way too narrow for braking weight, though.
