i have 01 dakota ext cab slt 4x4 4.7v8 the cab is crushed by the windshield from being flipped on its roof and im wanting to replace the cab. whats yrs can i use and what all do i need to swap them and does the other cab have to be the same trim package as mine
A revision of the interior was made for the 2001 models, including a completely redesigned dash, door panels, and revised seats, so I would assume 01 to 04 models.
You can actually use any 1997-2004 model cab. While the interior does change for 2001, the cab itself is the same.
The VIN follows the cab, so if you do replace just the cab make sure the title comes with it. You'll also want to check the history on the VIN. If you get a cab from salvage, then the title will almost certainly be marked as salvage. You'll probably do better to buy another truck with a good title and a clean cab, then move parts from your existing truck to the new one.
