I have a 97 4x4 Dakota with a almost missing frame.
I've located a 02 4x4 Dakota with a inop 4x4. Don't know specifics except that something "POPPED" going uphill and now 4x4 isn't working.

Could I use my 97 as a donor to get the 02 fixed?

Other than the frame on my 97 being almost gone, the 97 has no issues.

If this deal doesn't happen. What are some of the model years I can look for that I can use my 97 Dakota 4x4 as a parts donor?

 

There was a significant trim update in 2001 that might mean changes to the harness. I think the 4X4 gearboxes stayed pretty much the same over the years though.
