Default 99 Dodge Dakota 4x4 3.9l transmission issue

Hello I have a 1999 Dodge Dakota 4x4 3.9l and the guy I got it from said he was driving along with no issues, he came to a stop sign and when he went to start out he had no gears. I thing in any gear would work! He said he never had any slipping in the tranny or anything. I ran my obs2 and it was throwing a po 753 code which from everything I found is a shift solenoid issue, I drained the fluid and filled it with the proper level. Still no gears, note I did not install a different shift solenoid because a lot of what I found they said change the fluid and filter! Please help would be appreciated.

governor pressure solenoid, shift solenoid issue. Also, very possible a band strut fell down into the pan from not being adjusted, although you would have found that when you changed fluid.

Yea, replace the solenoid..An fresh fluid/ new filter .
An look at that darn accumulator spring while your in there.. a very common problem in these trucks -accumulator springs pop or break.
Easy to look at.

Mine was in 4 pieces.

a kit is a good idea too but you may only need solonoid, filter an possibly spring [$10]
