Question Rebuilding brake hub on '99 Sport, 5.2L, manual, 4x4

The thread for my brake caliper alignment pins on my Dakota have wallowed to the point of uselessness. I'm hoping at least one of you out there know if there is a parts swap possible to upgrade my caliper/hub assembly with parts from a newer model Dakota. I saw a video on YT swapping parts from a 2004 Dakota RT to a '99 RT. Mine would be for a '99 Dakota Sport 4x4.

thanks,
Tre.

You are likely thinking of the Durango brake swap. You take the knuckle and caliper off a 2003 Durango and install. Nothing too crazy. It can be hard to find them at this point though. The brake system didn't really change on the Dakota's as far as I'm aware. Swapping to a newer year would probably accomplish little besides less worn parts.

Yeah they did improve drastically on the Dakota as well. Dual piston calipers and the pads float without wearing down anything, for one. Also for 2003, the rears became disc vs drums. The Durango front brakes are a slight bit beefier so I'd go with those, but the Dakotas may be easier to find if junkyard hopping, as you can pick from 03-04, vs just 03 for the Durango.
