2009 4.7 swap into a 2004 Dakota
I have come across a low milage 2009 Dodge Dakota 4.7 V8 motor. I am considering installing it into my 2004 Dakota. Does anyone know how to bypass the immobilier system? If that isn't possible, I'm considering using the 2004 harness and trying to enable the knock sensors. Has anybody tried this?
The coil pack is basically the same as the single plug coil pack, it just fires 2 plugs. The 2009 ECU has an immoblizer circuit that would need to be bypassed. If I used the 2004 harness, I will need to enable the knock sensors because the 2009 4.7 has higher compression than the 2004 4.7. Bypassing the electronic throttle is not going to be a problem.
It appears that none of the 2000 to 2004 4.7 Dakotas (or Durango) had knock sensors but some of the V6s did. The 2005 to 2007 4.7 had knock sensors but they also had the Can buss / immoblizer system.
