My brother passed away last week. Before he passed, he gave me his 1998 Dodge Dakota Sport 2WD, 5Speed Manual, V6. He changed the oil ever 3,000 for 175,000 miles It's got a very few bumps, some leaves and crust, and dirt. But it was his. I'll fix it up and drive it in his honor.
After making all his arrangements (In California, it ain't easy), I drove the truck home and got 23-24mpg on mostly all highway (5th gear) for 300 miles.

I loved him and will take care of his truck.

 

I painted the front and rear bumpers, vacuumed the inside, and put on a (cheap roll up) tonneau. Every minute I work on her, I'll think of Mac. Not that anyone would jump out of the chair to buy her, but she'll Never be for sale.

 

The second generation Dakotas are a nice balanced truck. Add in the family connection, I'm sure it will doo you well.
