99 Dakota Front Suspension woes
Evening all, New to the forum.
I have a 99 Dakota 3.9 RWD, got it a couple of years back for a bargain. been running fairly well, fast forward and I discover a PS leak, pump is leaking, so I replace it.
then I discover another leak (probably due to the new pump) in the steering rack.
I then decide that screw it, all the bushings look worn, its front end rebuild time (just the lower parts).
Lots of fun stripping it down, until I get to the front shock nut, which is NOT shifting. so I decide, screw it, ill pull the upper control arms off so I can get to the nut.
ha. yeah, no. the rear most nut/bolt for the control arm is turning. as is the block underneath it that is supposed to hold it still.
(thankfully) prior to grabbing the grinder/ sawmill to just Destry the arm to get it off I decide to quickly check on prices for the new control arms.
WTF- why are they not anywhere to be found. why does everything show for 4WD versions only? (except 1 seller on flabby who wants $500 per side)
So my questions to the fine residents of this forum
1. any thoughts on getting that nut off while the bottom block turns (I've already tried putting a pry bar in there, it just jumps)
2. what's the deal with the upper arms- is the 4wd one used for both? if not- where did they all go?
