I'm troubleshooting my 97 dakota 3.8V6. Rough starting, new plugs, distributor, rotor. Lots of spark, amps average 15 on idle. Stalls out at least 3 times before it idles, rough when it does. Starting after stall requires flooring the gas, like it's flooded. After it fires and starts there is a lot of fuel smell. There is presure on the fuel rail. I have my check engine light on, code is 0012 = power supply to PCM has been disconnected within the last 12 hrs., should reset after 50 starts but it doesn't, engine light stays on, only 1 code. Plugs look like they are burning good, after it's hot.

Anybody tell me which sensors would most likely affect the fuel air mix, or how much fuel to inject when cold. Seems like it's starving for fuel, really don't want to dig into the tank for the pump/filter, only for last resort. Please any suggestions, thanks!

 

sounds like my 97 same **** going on i narrowed it down to the crank sensor or the pcm im going more towards the pcm dodge has a new one for 600 bucks plus instalation plus they have to flash it for it to work so im lookin about 1,000 bucks found 1 at auto parts for 150 they have 2 diffrent models other is 250.00 have to get it to dodge before you change it once its instaled they have to flash it (reprogram to your truck ) if you change before your truck will not run dodge is a rip off i also changes plugs cap cam sensor wires rotor no luck me and my nephew mechanic check over everything today timing and all everything was good we put a timing light on it and the light was flashing crazy which lets us believ it is in the computer threwing to mutch spark hope this helps ya out bro good luck you'll need it im rewady to get 5 gallons of gas and burn it

 

How did you pull that code? This is obd2. I would check it on a computer from autozone or similar. Does it run down the road fine?
