I've used the BFG All Terrain T/A KO in the past. Great tire in both looks and performance but gets a little pricey as you get into the bigger sizes. I am currenlty running Futura Dakota all terrain tires. They are from Pep Boys and made by Cooper. Like you, I am mostly road but off-road on the weekends.

Good looking tire with similar pattern to the BFG AT's. I've only had them for about 2 months now but so far love them. Quiet and good traction off road. They come with a 50,000 mile warrantly and I paid about 89 bucks/tire for the 265/70/R-16's. Before I purchased, I did a search on a Jeep bulleting board (jeepforum.com) and everyone that used them loved them.

No local Pep boys here, Discount persuaded me to get Yokohama Geolandars instead of the BFG AT's, saved some money and they all run them on their rigs. 15" tires will generally be cheaper than the same tire in a 16" size, so I switched to 15" oem alloys too.

I know have firestone muds. I have not taken it the woods yet but they do handle better then stock goodyear rain or snow and pretty quiet no load humming.
I had the BF Goodrich AT’s I think that it is a better tire. I was looking for a more aggressive look, I should stuck with the BF but the price was lower and it rated better then the BF but the rating was wrong.
The BF’s handle great in the snow even in 2 wheel and also performed well in the trail until they have about 45,000 miles then the tread just hold the thick mud.

good luck

Expensive, but I think I'm going to give the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revos a try when the time comes.

I work at a tire shop and get to compare these things all the time....

I've decided on the Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor. Nice aggressive tread....kevlar reenforced... rim guard.....looks like a solid tire.

A bit pricey.....for 31x10.50 15s, they run about 150 a piece. But im one of those guys who dont skimp on whats most important......like tires. [:'(]

trxus are too loud, louder than super swampers. and i like that bfg's have one baja for the last 20 yrs, a race that is ran both on and off road. whats why i have bfg's.

I just put 35,000 on my Dakota and 2 of the 4 GoodYear Wrangler RT/S' have blown a belt in them in the last month. I just replaced all 4 with 265/70/R-16 Yokahama Geolander HT-S's. They have a real nice highway ride and so far have been good in the rain. It hasn't snowed yet hear in CNY but according to TireRack.com's survery these tires are rated #3 in thier customer survey and rated high in the "snow traction also". So far I'm very pleased.
