Default 2001 Dakota base head unit/display question(s)

Good morning Guys n Gals. Subject is a 2001 Dakota Base and wanted to install an inexpensive 7" touch screen, multi-media head unit. (don't want to attach to top of dash either)
I've done a search but similar threads have hot links that no longer work. I've installed numerous "stereo's" in older cars but would like to know if the harness
itself is the same for ALL models of trucks in 2001 as I would think. Amazon is showing different 'adapters' for the same year spread, and don't want to have to send stuff
back that won't work, and have to wait.

It's fundamentally the same for base or premium radio for the aftermarket adapter. It's two connectors and a ground strap for base. Premium has another extra 2-wire connector for the factory amplifier IIRC.

Just wanted to make sure. I have a Lexus IS300 and it's stereo 'system' goes through a separate Equalizer like unit that sends what IT THINKS sounds the best. And adds numerous wires to the system.
Thank you.
