Question Noob to Dodge - Door/Dome light issue

This is my first post here. About a year ago, I inherited a base model 2000 Dakota, manual door locks and windows. I'm not a super mechanical person, I'm IT by trade. But I do believe I have an issue with the dome light related to the door latch. With the dimmer a click or two up from lowest setting, the dome light comes on and stays on. Occasionally I can get the light to turn off by re-closing the door but that is unreliable. I believe 2000 is the first year without the door jamb switch or maybe I should say I believe this model has the door ajar integral to the latch. At any rate, when I search online for the latch, I think I am seeing the latch with power locks (actuator).
My questions are these:
A) Does this sound like the door latch needs to be replaced?
B) Can anyone guide me to a good place to get a door latch for manual door locks?
