Hi everyone.
This is my first post here. I was given a 2000 Dodge Dakota with a 5.9L engine
from a friend. It hasn't run in many years and the keys were lost. I purchased a new ignition and keys but I'm having trouble removing the ignition from the housing. The few things I've come across instruction wise have said you need to turn the key in the ignition in order to remove but since there is no key, I can't do that. So can someone help me figure out if there's a way to remove it without turning the key or should I purchase a new ignition switch also? I've attached pictures but if I need to add some additional ones, let me know. Thanks in advance. I hope someone out there can help.
Thanks for your replies. I had a feeling that would be the way to go so I did order a switch yesterday.
Hopefully once I get that installed, I can add some gas to the tank, top off fluids temporarily, reconnect the battery and see if will fire up. Wish me luck.
