Tail-Gate Loading?
I've searched the hand-book but can't find anything on it. Does anybody know how much load I put on the open tail gate? The reason I ask is that I've make a bed-extender so I can transoprt my motorcycle which weighs about 450 pounds. Of course only one whell at a time will roll over the tail-gate as I load it but the rear wheel (the slightly lighter end of the bike) will be on the tail-gate the whole time. The cable stays are brobobly stronger than they look but wondered if anybody has any expirience of them breaking and if so under what sort of load.
Thanks for any help,
Paul

hey
i had my suzuki quad 500 4x4 slip the ramps off the truck, then the steel front end landed right on the tail gate... i wasn't driving it at the time, i let one of my buddies do it.. last time i do that.. the only damage it did is scratch the box liner a little bit.. to add i beleive a 1/4 wire is rating at 800lbs..

Should have looked before I pressed OK, dislexia is a pain in the butt! Ment to say you've put my mind at rest and that its suprising that nothing is mentioned in the hand-book on this importand matter.
