Throttle body?
I own a 99 with the 3.9 and want to swap the throttle body out. I know it has to be off a 96 or newer v8 for EGR reasons, i was just curious as which v8 would be the best to get it from the 318 or the 360? Does it matter and are they 50mm? I have been told to use a 48mm. I have access to lots of later model mopar v8's at my local junkyards so i can get one easy just want to make sure i get it right the first time around. I already know i either have to use the shaft from the v6 tb or get the v8 acc. cable. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Hi, I'm in the market for a tb as well, I've been told the 318 and 360 are the same, if you have access to the bone yard you will also need the throttle cable from the donor truck, as it will be different from your 3.9 so I have been told, lots of info @ www.Dakota-Durango.com I'm interested so let me know what kind of $ their asking for them, where are you located?[8D]
Well as for the prices, i am located in upstate new york...not Albany upstate....almost canada upstate..anyways they are asking about $65 for the tb cable setup. As for the tb spacer...shop on ebay...got it for 35 bucks. Not a great deal of difference in ranges but you can notice the difference in throttle response. Although small there was a difference in the performance. It only took about 10 mins to install..and everyone has 10 mins to spare. I wish i had dragged it last summer but this year i plan on taking it to Napiersville Canada to the strip to see what its running.
littlejoe, installing-easyer than an oil change. I have the tb spacer because of the exhaust. 3" is very unrestrictive and it gave me low end power problems - very easy to see on my buddies dyno. So i got a airaid tb spacer and took it to another buddy with a cnc machine and scrap alumum(sp). Before you ask - he sold it a week after cutting my spacer. Returned the airaid spacer. Then I have a pipe threader kit that goes all the way up to the 50mm it need to be to give me that "rifleing" effect - (p.s. it does NOTHING). The tb lowered the power band by 1000 rpm - it made the curve a little steaper - like it was before I started working on the truck. That is what spacers are for, to regain some low end power in modified vehicles.
