Default Disabling keyless entry

Hey guys my keys got lost got them back less the remote for my Dakota and ram. Is it possible to disable those factory remotes, or will an aftermarket remote systems override the factory system? I just don't want some thief being able to open my trucks with the factory remote.

head to the dealer to reprogram the remotes you have and possibly a new one to replace the one that was lost. when the system is (re-)programmed it resets the list of key-fobs that the computer will accept, kicking out the old one you lost.

Thanks, do you know if an aftermarket alarm system will override the factory, because I am thinking of having one installed, do not want to spend the money at the dealership reprogramming the system when a new after market alarm will remedy my problem.

only way an aftermarket system will remidy the problem is to have it removed and start from near scrach. Near scrach because you can usually reuse the power door lock relays and the orignal siren. Also it is usually cheaper just for them to reprogram the factory system. Also the remotes are dodge parts that are usually stocked, just in case you lose them again.
