Default wheels, how heavy is heavy?

ive been looking into a set of 18X8's for my 2wd 99 dakota and the weight on the wheels im looking at is 29lbs per wheel im wondering what the stock weight on the 99' dodge 15X8 split 5 spokes are. there are the wheels that came standard on alot of the 4x4's plus my tires are 265/65/15 and those are NOT light at all

29 lbs isn't all that heavy for an 18? wheel, sounds like a normal cast alloy wheel. I don't know the weight of the stock ones, but Subaru 15x7" alloys off the 00-01 Impreza RS were 15 lbs, and the 15x6.5 off the 02+ Imprezas were 15.5 lbs. That's considered a fairly light wheel though. In the 17" range a 20-22 lb wheel is about normal, and in 18's mid to high 20's would be normal.

It's going to be worse than a 30 lb 15" wheel though, as diameter increases the power required to spin the mass increases exponentially. You probably will notice a difference, but it probably isn't going to be aweful. The 35x12.5 all terrains on 16.5x9.75" steel wheels on my Ram weigh in at almost 90 lbs each, and it still gets up and flies.

I'm with horatio ... I have a set of 17x9's on my mustang - they're 20lbs. IMO I'd say 29lbs is starting to get heavy, if you're looking at them for a "performance" truck. ... also something to consider, the difference in the price of tires (becausae of the lower profile sidewalls) between 17's and 18's are almost double (18's being more expensive) ... 18's will look good for a street truck, but it comes at a price -- being heavier wheels, more expensive wheels & tires. Good luck

theres not a whole lot of aftermarket as far as performance wheels for a dakota, they are either off road or bling bling.... i was thinking stock r/t wheels but i dont want people to think im trying to pose as an r/t because its not (5.2/5-speed) i was almost thinking of getting some nascar type wheels because i know those are real light
