Default 2000 problem starting

My dad's got a 2000 Dakota that takes forever to get started. Whenya turn the key it just clicks, but not all the time. Sometimes it will fire up in one try, other times it may take me literally 50 turns of the key to get it to crank. But it always starts eventually, so it isn't a dead battery, anyone have any ideas? I was thinking a starter solenoid. If thats it, can someone tell me where it is located. I'm used to my Ford truck that its right on the inside of the fender. (I'm not a Ford guy, just didnt have a choice, haha)

Yes it may be solenoid. On mopar, they are usually attached to the starter. It may still be your battery too. Just because it eventually starts doesn't mean there is no problem with the battery. It could have a dead cell. Easiest way to rule it out is to take it somewhere like auto zone or advance auto parts and have them test it. It doesn't cost anything to have them test it. They can even do it with the battery still in the truck.
