I just brought home my 2004 quad cab Dakota, 4.7l. When I bring the truck to a stop, immediately after it comes to a stop the idle will not go completely down and it will surge enough that it feels like the truck wants to push forward, especially if you have your foot only lightly on the brake pedal. This surge only happens for a second or two, then the idle drops fully.

Is this normal? a common problem? I would like to have an idea of what may be wrong before I talk to the dealer about it.

is the throttel body closeing completly, is the line from the pedal to the throttel in good shape and tight? thats some simple tihngs to check that might do it. Does it do it when you turn the truck on and put it in gear or only after you been driving and let of the gas ?

It does it after it has been running. It actually stalled at a stop sign today. I called the dealer and they will be doing a throttle body service next Monday. We will see if that helps.
