oil sludge
i have a 2000 dakota 4.7L. there is some sort of tan colored, gelatinous substance building up in my oil fill tube. i cleaned it out last week when i changed the oil and it reappeared when i checked it yesterday. anyone experienced this ? thanks.
I have an 02 4.7L and I have seen this with mine also. My understanding is (someone correct me if I am wrong) that this is caused by cold air blowing on the oil fill tube from the raditor clutch fan. The is a plastic piece that fits inside the oil fill tube that is supposed to provide help with this "foaming" , however I have this piece on my 02 and I still have this "foaming"
I have only seen this in the winter time. I have not seen this in the summertime when the temps outside are a bit warmer.
I do not think it is anything to worry about , atleast from what I have read. Hope this helps
