Just bought 01 qc 5.9l atx 4x4-have questions
Hello everyone. This isnt my first dodge vehicle, although it is my first dodge truck. I purchased the dakota a couple days ago. Pretty nice truck, has 96k on it but primarily all freeway miles and you can tell cuz the truck is in great shape. I tried doing some research on info on the 5.9L but wasnt having much luck, mainly stuff on the 4.7L. My main question is what is or seems for people the average gas mileage of the 5.9L. I will be doing mainly freeway driving. What upgrades have you guys found most beneficial for gas mileage and performance? I planned on getting the k&n fipk and probably a gibson exhaust as starters. I switched the truck over to mobil 1 full synthetic already. Need to put plugs in, any suggestions there? Any info anyone has on the 5.9L would be greatly appreciated and any info on the truck in general would be great. thanks for you time.

I get 12 combined.
But cruising on the freeway it's a good solid 14, at times I can get 17 if I'm going 60 and there isn't a head wind.
You can put highway tires on instead of all terrain tires, that will certainly help. Also if you don't have them you can swap in the 3.55 gears. Intake and exhaust will make your engine more efficient at making power but I haven't noticed an increase in mileage from it.
